Children and adults who are struggling with mental health issues may feel alone, disconnected and misunderstood. They may try to hide their disorder, but issues rarely remain hidden for long. They often present themselves through high absenteeism, poor work performance, undesirable behavior, low productivity and low morale.
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) provides the tools to assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis to individuals without clinical training. Like CPR for someone suffering a heart attack, the goal of MHFA is to help support an individual in crisis until they receive appropriate professional help.
Through MHFA training, you will learn how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness. It will provide you with the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health challenge or crisis and help connect them to the appropriate care.
Youth MHFA (for supporting a person age 12-18) and Adult MHFA (for supporting a person age 19+) are skills-based trainings that teach participants how to identify, understand and respond to an individual who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge. This course introduces participants to the unique risk factors and warning signs and addresses how to help someone experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis.
tMHFA is a skills-based training that teaches teens in grades 10-12, or ages 15-18, how to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of a mental health or substance use challenge among their friends and peers, equipping them with the knowledge and skills they need to take care of their own mental health and to support each other. Delivered in a classroom setting, this training is available to high schools and youth serving organizations.
Low morale. Constantly stressed out. Irritability and lack of focus. While these could all be true of any workplace, they may be a sign of issues lurking just below the surface. While employees may try their best to cover them up, mental health problems rarely remain hidden for long. From low productivity to poor performance to a high rate of absences, the indirect cost to a business can be staggering.
The Youth and Adult Course are 8 hours total, offered in a full day or two half day formats. Courses are primarily offered face to face, but a virtual option is available for Youth and Adult.
The tMHFA course is coordinated directly with a school, school district or youth serving organization. The course is offered in three 90 minute sessions or six 45 minute sessions.

"Our trainings can help better prepare officers and other first-responders, so when they get a call in the community they can respond and also have some additional resources that they may not have had before."
