Building Social Skills Through Play: CSG's LEGO® Therapy Skills Group for Children

Helping children build strong social skills can sometimes feel challenging—especially for kids who experience difficulty with communication, behavior regulation, or peer relationships. At Community Services Group (CSG), we believe that support should meet children where they are, using approaches that feel engaging, encouraging, and fun.

That’s why we’re excited to offer our LEGO® Therapy Skills Group, an evidence-based social skills program designed specifically for children who learn best through hands-on play and structured interaction.

What is LEGO® Therapy?

LEGO® Therapy is a social skills group based on Daniel LeGoff’s evidence-based model, which uses collaborative LEGO play to help children practice communication, cooperation, and connection in a supportive environment.

Rather than focusing on “traditional” talk-based social skills training, LEGO Therapy helps children build skills naturally while working together toward a shared goal—constructing something meaningful as a team.

The group is designed to:

  • Promote self-confidence

  • Encourage positive peer interaction

  • Strengthen communication and problem-solving

  • Help children feel successful in social settings

Who is this group for?

CSG’s LEGO Therapy Skills Group is open to children ages 7–11 who may experience social or behavioral challenges, including those with:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Social Pragmatic Communication Disorder

This group can be a great fit for children who struggle with making friends, working in groups, or navigating social expectations—but who thrive in creative, structured activities.

What to expect

This in-person, 8-week social skills group will provides consistent structure, peer support, and guided interaction.

Children will participate in collaborative building activities where they practice:

  • Taking turns

  • Listening and sharing ideas

  • Managing frustration

  • Working as part of a team

  • Building friendships through play

The group setting helps children learn that they are not alone—and that social growth can happen in a fun, low-pressure way.
