Tempo Clubhouse Celebrates 35 Years of Empowerment

On Thursday, September 27th, 2018 from 12 pm-2 pm Tempo Clubhouse (790 New Holland Ave, Lancaster, PA 17602) will celebrate its 35th Anniversary of supporting those recovering from mental health issues in the Lancaster community. This event will feature tours and refreshments presented by Clubhouse members and staff and is open to anyone in the community. The celebration will also include guest speakers of those who benefitted from the clubhouse and leaders from the area.

Tempo Clubhouse is a human services organization that seeks to give members of the club an opportunity to develop relationships, feel a sense of purpose, and build employment skills.  Clubhouse members consist of citizens in Lancaster County who our recovering from mental health issues.  Staff at the Clubhouse work side-by-side with members on meaningful wor k that allows the Clubhouse to function, and engage in job training and supported employment. Tempo Clubhouse has helped many people to find full or part time employment through partnerships with local businesses, such as Mr. Sticky’s, (a local bakery).  The Clubhouse Model is a proven evidence-based model accredited by Clubhouse International and used all over the world to provide greater quality of life, higher employment rates and improved relationships for club members as well as a greater sense of overall well-being. One Tempo Clubhouse member describes their experience like this: “At Tempo, I have people who support me with my recovery and encourage me to try new things. It has helped me build my confidence and skills to return to work. The staff and members of Tempo are like family to me.”

The event will highlight the success of the organization over the last 35 years with stories from members and family.
